Dear Andy,

My friends tell me I should try different things. And my folks are always saying: Don’t be afraid to try things. But I don’t want to get hooked on something. Plus, I’m not really afraid to try things. Sometimes I’m just too lazy. Do you have any ideas for things to do that might be kinda risky but wouldn’t get me in trouble? Thanks.

Adam

Dear Adam:

With a lot of help from my family and friends, I’ve learned to take healthy risks. For me, one of the biggest risks is talking to somebody I don’t know. Is there somebody at school who always eats lunch alone? Pull up a chair and talk to them. For something a little quieter, try visiting a nursing home. Just like talking to someone at school, it’s scarey until you get to know the people. Or for an outdoor adventure, rock climbing is the best. Don’t be afraid to try things, Adam. Just make sure the things you try aren’t going to hurt you or anyone else. Have fun!

Andy
