Hi!
My name is Andy and I am a
recovering compulsive gambler. I started gambling when I turned 18,
and I quickly got into a lot of
trouble
because of my gambling. I ended up
taking money from my
parents, stealing some things
from a cabin, and I had to spend time
in jail because of these things
that I did in order to continue
gambling. However, I got the help I needed
in order to quit gambling.
I realize now how quickly gambling
can become a problem, especially
for kids. I think it is important to have
someone you can talk to and turn to
for answers to important questions. It
is important to remember that compulsive
gambling is an addiction just
like alcoholism and drug dependency. That
is what this column (and magazine) is
all about - you can write to me and ask questions about anything. I will
try to answer your questions as best I can.
