Byars, Betsy, The Pinballs (Harpercollins, 1993).  Three unwanted kids come together in a warm and caring foster home.

Qualey, Marsha, Thin Ice (Bantam, 1997).  Did Arden Munro's brother fake his own death in a snowmobile accident?  Arden is determined to find out.
