Dear Andy, I like to go to the skateboard park. (I bought my board with money I earned mowing lawns.) But some of the kids who hang out there just sit and play cards for money. My friend Tyler lost twenty bucks last week. If I tell them I don't want to gamble, they'll think I'm a dope. Oh, yeah, and one of the kids who gambles tried to sell me pot, too. I told him: Get lost. I still want to do things with Tyler. What would you do? Joe-Age 13
Dear Joe: Ask Tyler if he wants to help you scout out a new
place to skateboard. You also might need to tell your parents and
whoever's in charge of the park that somebody was trying to peddle drugs
there. If Tyler wants to stay at the park and gamble, maybe it's time to
find a new friend. I know it's tough, but believe me, you'll be happier
in the long run. Let me know what happens.
